For all those who care to know... Tom Riddle is my favorite HP character. There's an appeal to TR/LV that is somewhat rare to find in a series so long. The thing about reading a long series, to me, is that you get tired of the draws between the bad guys and the good guys. You almost get tired of the characters themselves. But I've never gotten tired of reading about this villain. There were times where I wanted to wring Harry's neck because I was so sick of his brooding, (OotP... a'hem) but I've always gotten a certain thrill, almost giddiness, when I read about either Tom Riddle or Lord Voldemort.
I could probably write an essay about it if I wanted, but that's a ways from now. At the moment, I'm only intending to post a short one-shot (I think) of Tom Riddle's views on a certain "fairy tale". It also happens to be one of my favorite short stories as well, but not for quite the same reasons as Tom. To tell the truth, I think I'm a bit too romantic-centered on certain ideas for him to put up with me...
Title: A Mint-Rose For Tom Riddle
Rating: Hmm... It's not a
bad story per se, but I wouldn't recommend it for youngsters... too broody in some parts... But to rate it PG-13 would be a stretch I'm not comfortable with. Too limiting, if you ask me. Just think about something you think TR would think
as a child, and then decide whether or not to click.
Pairing: None. Purely Tom-centric. Despite what happens, I don't find an actual relationship.
Summary: "
How strange it was that Tom Riddle's only friend was a paper doll... " Lord Voldemort, when seeking his tiny little lady, constantly fought against his own black goblins. And how strange it was that, by playing his part as the brave tin soldier, he ultimately became the "black goblin" of millions.
Extras: The story that is interlaced with this one, (and is well to be read beforehand--don't worry, it's not too long) is
not my own. It is the short work of Hans Christian Andersen, titled, "
The Brave Tin Soldier". Which you can find
right here...
